Azim ibn Qais ibn Hassan ar-Rafiq, Nabil or Prince of Nur Hallaj, Sir, was born on January 7 1079, the third son of Qais bin Hassan, Emir of Our Hallaj, and Kamila, daughter of Athbi, Sultan of Gonj

A master of Deryni magic, Azim joined the Knights of the Anvil (the successors of the Michaelines) in 1099 and became a preceptor. He trained several Deryni adepts, including Richenda Morgan and Araxie Haldane.

In May 1124, Azim sent Richenda an old scroll regarding the death of Camber of Culdi. He visited her in June of the same year using the alias "Ludophus the Peddler." He also left a compulsion in the mind of Father Ambros to preach a sermon of tolerance to Jehana.

Azim replaced Lady Kyri on the Camberian Council on February 11, 1128. In July, he warned King Kelson and some of his advisors of Mahael Duke d'Arjenol's machinations, and is later chastised by Bishop Arilan for not consulting with the Camberian council. He represented his brother, Hakim II, at King Liam Lajos' inauguration later that month. He trained Kelson in his role in the kilijalay ceremony for Liam Lajos. [unfinished]
